St. Ambrose of Milan
December 74th century
St. Ambrose of Milan (340-397 AD), as Bishop of Milan, he courageously opposed Arianism and influenced the conversion of St. Augustine.
Known for his hymns, theological writings, and defense of church independence from imperial power.
When we speak about wisdom, we are speaking of Christ. When we speak about virtue, we are speaking of Christ.
No one heals himself by wounding another.
In some cases, silence is dangerous.
If you have two shirts in your closet, one belongs to you and the other to the man with no shirt.
Do not desert a friend in time of need, nor forsake him nor fail him, for friendship is the support of life.
The devil tempts that he may ruin; God tests that he may crown.
The emperor is in the Church, not over it.
Prayer of St. Ambrose
Lord Jesus Christ, You are for me medicine when I am sick; You are my strength when I need help; You are life itself when I fear death; You are the way when I long for heaven; You are light when all is dark; You are my food when I need nourishment.
