St. John of Damascus
December 48th century
St. John of Damascus (675-749 AD) was a Syrian monk and priest. The last of the Greek Fathers, he defended the veneration of icons during the Iconoclastic period.
His 'Exact Exposition of the Orthodox Faith' synthesized the theology of the Eastern Fathers and remains a cornerstone of Orthodox doctrine.
I do not worship matter; I worship the Creator of matter who became matter for my sake.
Either we must speak as we dress, or dress as we speak. Why do we profess one thing and display another?
The saints must be honored as friends of Christ and children and heirs of God.
