St. Charalampos the Hieromartyr
St. Charalampos served as a priest of Magnesia in Asia Minor (some traditions call him a bishop), shepherding the Christians of that city for many decades and preaching Christ to all.
During the persecution of Emperor Septimius Severus he was arrested at the age of 113, and his patient endurance under flaying and other tortures, together with the miracles God worked through him, converted many onlookers, including the soldiers Porphyrius and Baptus and the emperor's daughter Galina. He gave up his soul in prayer before the executioner's sword could touch him, receiving the crown of martyrdom in the year 202.
I thank you, brethren, that you have restored my spirit, which longs to pass over to a new and everlasting life!
