St. Blaise of Sebaste
St. Blaise was a physician of Sebaste in Armenia who, for his righteous and devout life, was unanimously chosen by the people as the city's bishop during the persecutions of Diocletian and Licinius.
Withdrawing to a cave on Mount Argeos, he lived in prayer while wild beasts came to him meekly to be blessed and healed, and he cured the sick who sought him out, including a boy choking on a fish bone. Seized by the governor Agricolaus, he refused to renounce Christ, endured beatings and tearing with iron combs, and was beheaded around the year 316. He is invoked as a healer of throat ailments and a protector of animals.
Do not weep, your pig will be returned to you.
Troparion · Tone 4
By sharing in the ways of the Apostles, you became a successor to their throne. Through the practice of virtue, you found the way to divine contemplation, O inspired one of God; by teaching the word of truth without error, you defended the Faith, even to the shedding of your blood. Hieromartyr Blaise, entreat Christ God to save our souls.
