St. John Chrysostom
St. John Chrysostom (349-407 AD) was Archbishop of Constantinople and one of the Three Holy Hierarchs. Known as the 'Golden-mouthed' for his eloquent preaching, he fearlessly spoke against abuse of authority and social injustice.
His Divine Liturgy is the standard liturgy celebrated in the Orthodox Church.
The bee is more honored than other animals, not because she labors, but because she labors for others.
No one can harm the man who does himself no wrong.
When you are weary of praying, and do not receive, consider how often you have heard a poor man calling, and have not listened to him.
Not to enable the poor to share in our goods is to steal from them and deprive them of life.
Prayer Before Communion
O Lord my God, I know that I am not worthy nor sufficient that Thou shouldest enter under the roof of the house of my soul, for all is desolate and fallen, and Thou hast not in me a place worthy to lay Thy head. But as from the highest heaven Thou didst humble Thyself for our sake, so now conform Thyself to my humility.
Prayer of Thanksgiving
Glory to God for all things! Glory to God in troubles and in joy! Glory to God in sickness and in health! Glory to God for every circumstance of life!
