St. Clement of Rome
November 231st century
St. Clement of Rome (died c. 99 AD) was the fourth Bishop of Rome and is considered one of the Apostolic Fathers. He knew the Apostles personally and his epistle to the Corinthians is one of the oldest Christian documents outside the New Testament, emphasizing church unity and order.
Let us therefore approach Him with holiness of spirit, lifting up pure and undefiled hands unto Him.
Through Him the Lord has willed that we should taste of immortal knowledge.
For Christ is of those who are humble-minded, and not of those who exalt themselves over His flock.
And Abram believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness.
The great cannot exist without the small, nor the small without the great. There is a certain combination among all, and usefulness lies in this.
Open to me the gates of righteousness; I will go in by them, and will praise the Lord: this is the gate of the Lord: the righteous shall enter in by it.
Love covers a multitude of sins. Love bears all things, is long-suffering in all things. There is nothing base, nothing arrogant in love. Love admits of no schisms: love gives rise to no seditions: love does all things in harmony.
Prayer of St. Clement
We beseech Thee, Lord and Master, to be our help and succor. Save those who are in tribulation; have mercy on the lonely; lift up the fallen; show Thyself unto the needy; heal the ungodly; convert the wanderers of Thy people.
