St. Athanasius of Alexandria
May 24th century
St. Athanasius of Alexandria (296-373 AD) was the 20th Patriarch of Alexandria. Known as the 'Father of Orthodoxy,' he spent 17 of his 45 years as bishop in exile for his unwavering defense of Christ's divinity against Arianism.
His work 'On the Incarnation' remains foundational to Orthodox theology.

You will not see anyone who is truly striving after his spiritual advancement who is not given to spiritual reading.

Anyone who wishes to understand the mind of the sacred writers must first cleanse his own life, and approach the saints by copying their deeds.
It is a fact, brothers and sisters, that the path of the saints in this life is one full of troubles.
Even on the cross he did not hide himself from sight; rather, he made all creation witness to the presence of its Maker.
