St. Helena
May 213rd-4th century
St. Helena (250-330 AD) was the mother of Emperor Constantine the Great. After converting to Christianity, she made a pilgrimage to the Holy Land where, according to tradition, she discovered the True Cross.
She also built churches on sacred sites including the Church of the Nativity and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
By him that was crucified, I shall make thee perish for hunger if thou tell not to me the truth.
Show to me, said she, the place named Golgotha where our Lord was crucified, because and to the end that we may find the cross.
Prayer to St. Helena
O holy Empress Helena, who found the precious Cross of our Lord, help us to carry our own crosses with patience and love.
